CasSandra Calin, LCSW

she/her

We learn and believe certain stories about ourselves based on what others tell us over the course of our lives. Oftentimes those stories aren't true, sometimes they're harmful, usually they get in the way of us being able to understand ourselves and grow in the ways we want to. My clinical approach is to partner with you to figure out how you relate to yourself now, what you want to be different, and how you want to get there. I am excited to support you in developing a nourishing and creative relationship with yourself, once you have had some time and support to sift through all those stories, where they come from, and whether they serve you.

I am grateful for the space and opportunity to get to do this mental and emotional wellness support work specifically with and for my community. My passion for providing therapy has developed overtime alongside my awareness of the systems of injustice that impact our day-to-day experiences. I enjoy working with clients through a fluid thought process of zooming out and back in in order to understand the factors in their environment that impact them while exploring their own power and capacity to influence their environment and create a life that is most nourishing to them.

That process of exploration and empowerment looks a little different for each person based on their communication and processing styles, their cultural background, their age, and their life experiences. Part of my work with kids (ages 6-18), adults, couples, and families is increasing your access to your strengths and supports so that you can be nurtured and resourced along the way.

I am a queer, femme, cisgender Afro-Cuban LCSW. I became a clinical social worker because I know how helpful it can be to have a space, set aside specifically for you, where you can bring your joys and stresses and leave with tools and power. I have 9 years of experience supporting predominantly queer and trans clients and people of color. I also enjoy supporting clients in polyamorous or kink-based relationship dynamics.
