Kennedy Graham, Counseling Intern
she/her

Therapy should be a safe place to explore vulnerabilities, trauma, dreams, goals, and more. Whether experiencing an unforeseen transition or wanting better ways to cope with day-to-day life, therapy may be the final piece to feeling more fulfilled. I strive to help clients get to the root of their problems so they can move forward in life as their most confident, authentic selves. I am passionate about supporting my clients through genuine connection and loving therapeutic guidance. I have a history of counseling adults, families, and teens. I have experience working with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, trauma, and mental disorders.

I am devoted to creating a safe, welcoming space for people to explore all parts of themselves. Part of my counseling experience is to serve and advocate for People of the Global Majority and LGBTQIA+ community. The complexity of being a Black person in therapy is one I had to go through myself. As a counselor, I am committed to validating the Black American experience for those clients. Understanding and confronting oppression, racism, and hate is essential to counseling these populations.

The foundation of my philosophy therapy is that the relationship between counselor and client is the most healing tool. I believe therapy will be beneficial when the counselor and client commit to working together with honesty, empathy, and acceptance. That means I am there alongside my clients in every laugh, cry, breakdown, and breakthrough. Other approaches I integrate into my care are but are not limited to, CBT, EFT, Psychodynamic Therapy, Positive Psychology, and Attachment Theory.

More about Kennedy:

  • Best follow on social media for therapy content:
I like @cognitivecorner on TikTok for therapy inspiration. Her videos are really gentle, validating, and make great journal prompts.

  • Favorite Play:
My favorite play would be Rent because it’s nostalgic for me. My siblings and I learned all the songs one summer and would stay up late trying to harmonize.

  • Favorite Ice Cream Flavor:
The best ice cream flavor right now is Ben & Jerry’s Oatmeal Dream Pie. I like to put a scoop on top of a bowl of sliced peaches-amazing.
